Haha - I'll give that a try. Then maybe I'll be ready for the trendy athletic gear. |
He is saying he is pulling his brand out of St. John's if they don't improve-not very loyal. |
Yes, I own a ton of the stock but he shoudl have sold. they have lost a huge market share to lululemon, they missed th boat in women;s fashion. Their total sales were just over 1 billion last year, addidas = 19 billion, nike 34 billion. lululemon 2.9 billion |
who gives a shit? |
UA probably cares, as they are working to expand into both Asian and Latin American/domestic Latino markets. |
| do you work at niketown? cannot imagine a consumer writing as many posts as you did about ua |
UA wants the big ($$$) European market-- reachable through the most popular sport in the world, football (ok, soccer) via the English Premier League. |
Previous poster. I did not post about the wisdom of UA's decision not to sell to Nike, but I did post regarding some observations about the west coast and foreign markets, and advertising. I am in no way affiliated with another sports company, rather I am currently a SAHM with an interest in marketing. I am also part of America's newly-coveted Latino demographic. |

Going to very hard to put a dent into addidas and nike there. but give them credit for throwing the name all over kids and when they are older they will nto think of nike but.......time will tell |
| OMG you again! It is ADIDAS |
Looks like a growth opportunity. Nike and Addidas market saturation, who care if Nike increases sale by 250m, but if UA increases sale by 250m. 250m is less than 1 percent of just Nike's share. |
Beating Prep is probably very important to Mr. Plank. |
Me too. They aren't in the hot category at all--not even by DC standards. |
I have not seen UA's women's gear at the gym lately, but the last time I saw their women's clothes at the Sports Authority it was so "phys ed instructorish." A basic tee design with short sleeves and V-neck, in that satiny material they are so famous for. That sheeny material is not flattering and unsexy, even my daughter (who looks good in everything) does not look particularly good in it. Women who go to the gym regularly want to feel good about themselves and to look "hot." I personally like cottony materials that hug my body, and cute looks like layered tanks, or a racer-back bra under a billowy top which opens on the sides to reveal just-enough skin. |
| Any other thoughts on their women's line? |
