Sugar Plums in Rockville - reviews?

Anonymous
My son has been a student at Sugar Plums since he was an infant. He is currently in the pre school classroom. The pre school teachers work with children ages 3-5. They are a wonderful team. The children are divided into small groups through out the day to work on appropriate developmental milestones. The director and owner are hands on and are aware of each child's strengths and weaknesses. The beauty of the small classrooms and less than 50 children in the center, allows the director/owner to recognize the "little things" about each child. The director notices when my child gets a hair cut or new shoes!!
The current pre school teachers have a over 15 years classroom experience working with 3-5 years olds. They are so vivacious, energetic and offer a fun program each day. I am thrilled that my son is still a part of this wonderful center. Change can be good. The owner recognizes when teachers need to be flexible and move around into new classrooms. The best thing that happened was when she moved my son into the combined 3-5 year old classroom with these 2 young and brilliant teachers. I highly recommend Sugar Plums for children infant age through pre school.

Hi, I'd like to know if anyone has more recent info/review on how things are with the infants program at Sugar Plums? TIA!

I haven't been at Sugar Plums long, but after reading the prior years posts I would say that they have come a long way. They have a good curriculum for all ages, and the children all seem to be happy and learning. There are some new staff members, but many have been with Sugar Plums for several years. They are professional and there is a lot of open communication with the parents. I love the app that they use! I get to see pictures of my child and get real time alerts of bottles and activities. They will likely be accredited in the upcoming month, they are excitedly awaiting the decision.

Would like to see if anyone can share their experience in the last year or two, specifically with COVID.

I took my son out of Sugar Plums this June because of an accident that happened that landed him at the ER. My dazed kid told me in the ambulance how it happened, but the owner completely dismissed my concerns. I had a tense back and forth in which she completely refused to assure me at all that his experience mattered. Only posting it because it’s November and my son (who is absolutely thriving at another place) told me today that the kids at the daycare were bad kids (he remembers their names including the kid who injured him) and he narrated the incident again now (with more details) that he has increased his vocabulary. Can never forget how the center mishandled this case.

The teachers are great but I would not recommend Sugar Plums because of how dismissive the owner is. Given the tuition fee which is incredibly high, one would expect some empathy and concern that such an incident occurred.
