The teachers are loving but are constantly leaving. I believe 2 or 3 of them have been there for a year or more, the rest are new or left and have not been replaced. The director is not accomodating and has had 3 assistants since she opened at this new location. There is a lot of turmoil at the center and not much stability for the children...

Thanks so much for responding. That is disappointing as it's a perfect location for us, but good to know. Any other daycares in Rockville that are metro accessible?

Not sure of the age of your child, but try Rockspring Children's Center -- www.rockspringchildrenscenter.com. It was formerly called Christ Church Children's Center, which you may have heard of because it has been around forever and is very well regarded. It moved and expanded (and changed its name) in October, and still has spaces in some of the classes. It's right by Walter Johnson, about a 5-10 minute drive from Grosvenor metro (just shoot across on Tuckerman).

IMHO, I wasn't as impressed with Rock Spring (the former Christ Church Children Center) eventhough it seems like there is always messages on here extolling the center. I heard rave reviews about it and had DC enrolled but was not happy with her care so ended up pulling DC out after a short period.

My children went to Sugar Plums but I have moved them to other center. I would not recommend Sugar Plums to any parents. The director is not doing a good job at managing the center and she always blames other people rather than appologizes and admits that it was her fault. The other thing is there is a ton of bird poops in the playground and the parking lot next to the center. For some reason, birds like to fly over this part of Rockville especially in Fall/Winter time. I think bird poops can make children get sick.

Thanks 9:46 for the feedback. Sugar Plums is one of the centers I am considering, so this is very good to know. Any other opinions on this daycare?

10:05 poster again. May I ask where you moved your children to? I'm looking for daycares in the White Flint area and have only found Georgetown Hill at the NRC so far.

Thanks

I moved them to a daycare center in Gaithersburg so that would be too far for you. I heard that Georgetown Hill at the NRC is a good daycare.

I am actually enrolling my 12 month old daughter at Sugar Plums. I was impressed with the facility and I guess I will soon find out about the director/teachers. Any other thoughts?

Has your child started at Sugar Plums? If so how do you like it so far?

My daughter (13 months) has been at Sugar Plums since September and we have been very happy there. In my opinion, it has been stable with little teacher turnover for much of this time.

Our son is almost 2 years old and has been at Sugar Plums since we moved to the area in October. He has enjoyed the teachers and other students. I particularly like that some of the student teachers rotate there from Gallaudet University and are teaching sign language to the children. So far, no concerns with the care. The facility is neat and clean.
