I personally found both GDS and Sidwell to be horribly chaotic and DIS-orderly. As a child I would have hated both and I am certain that my child would too. The noise was overwhelming. It was difficult to even figure out what they were doing. I really like Beauvoir and St Patrick's, the resources, the robust academics, the sense of calm and orderliness.

I visited Sheridan and fell in love. From the minute you walk in the door you feel the warmth and the enthusiasm in the classrooms is electric. The Head of School takes all prospective parents through the school philosophy and curriculum. We received a handout about the faculty and they are quite amazing almost all of graduate degrees.
For those of you who are interested in progressive and focused you will be blown away.

Sidwell has 22 in pre-K and 24 in K.

I love Sheridan but only know it for it's Summer camp CASA.
As for tours, I am planning on attending Norwood's on the 13th. I'll see. Anybody had been there already?
What about other schools so far?

Keep in mind, some of the not so 'top' schools have small class sizes because they are UNDERenrolled, and wish they had more. (ex-Grace Episcopal Day School)

Same with Capitol Hill Day School.

I actually don't think Grace's kindergarten or pre-K classes are underenrolled. Their enrollment in the lower school is governed by square footage and also, for nursery and pre-K, by NAEYC.

So they'll tell you...Unless you are the ADMINISTRATOR from Grace who keeps posting on the threads.
