Anyone have a child who is in a highly competitive sport team?

Wow, 23:18, thank you for such an informative post. I really did not know much about competitive dance. Everything you wrote makes total sense. It was especially helpful to read the bit about entertaining. I was wondering if we should look into a competitive team for DD, but based on your explanation, I think she is probably better where she is. DD loves to dance. She is one of those kids who dances without even realizing she is dancing. The type who is having a conversation with us, but also practicing arabesque. We have to drag her out of the studio after class. She dances because she can't help dancing. But she doesn't really like to perform. She is getting more used to it, but isn't really excited about it. She seems to see performances as something she has to do in order to take all the classes she wants to take! I am not sure she would make a career of it, especially if she doesn't gain more enthusiasm about performing. But it sounds like for the present time, a conservatory program is the better fit for her.
