Does every f**king thread need to devolve into a battle between DC city people versus NoVa/MoCo people?! I am really sick of it. I just click on this to see if I could purchase wine at the DC location because *wine* is what is important, not who lives in a better location.
Although, one could argue that DC is better because you can buy wine at Costco...just saying. |
Now why would you want that? Wouldn't that encourage businesses to take their business to VA or MD? |
I've seen it in VA, too. |
The District is in a unique and unenviable situation because it's the only place that does not have the ability to tax people who earn their income in that place. This was a provision in the Home Rule Act of 1973. It has a very limited tax base. |
Well, it's in a crappy place (thank goodness-- it's almost the worst of the big boxes and would be incompatible with appropriate urban land use), but my goodness, lady... the park hasn't been THE LINE in over a decade!! If you're one of THOSE UpperNWesties, grab your fleece have a look at the parts of DC that aren't pretending to be Maryland. (The new Costco won't count, since it's in the area that pretends to be PG County. |
Your loss, Little Provincial, and we don't mind so much. |

If you live in NW on the other side of Rock Creek Park, this new Costco isn't really very convenient for you. Don't bother coming all the way over here to slum it with us on Capitol Hill. Go to the 'burbs like you always do. "cross the park" - Geesh! |

| I could not care less about Costco selling wine. Corridor in Laurel is the place to go. |
why? |
