I think the chocolate alone tastes different, like rubberier or something.

Maybe they had to change the recipe in order to make the shape?

Yeah the chocolate on the bats and pumpkins is softer, like a "chocolate" coating/frosting. The chocolate in the cups is harder.

and don't get me started on McDonald's french fries - those used to be SO delicious

McDonald's french fries used to be good because they fried them in lard. They switched to vegetable oil in a (misguided) attempt to make them "healthier". When in France, I stop at a McDonald's there, just to buy french fries. They taste like ours used to taste.

It's not lard (pork fat) they used to fry them in...it was beef fat.

Once you have a "good" PB cup like from Justin's, then Reese's will always taste like shit. I no longer feel the need to swipe them from my kid's candy.

I'm really sad about the lack of mounds and almond joys in my kids' buckets.

Trader Joe's little peanut butter cups are awesome.

I'll have to try those!

Because so many kids don't like coconut, I avoid buying those.

M&M’s are always so hard now. Remember ‘melt in your mouth, not in your hand?’ Now they rattle around in my mouth, abrasive, before I crunch down.

I think the traditional peanut butter cups are ok. I hate the Halloween/Easter bunny shaped ones too, though.

I still go for Snickers. It was my favorite as a kid and it tastes the same?

Yes I also think the peanuts in the peanut M and Ms are smaller and worse tasting.

Agree - had a fun size pack of peanut M&M's - not as good. Better for me though, since I didn't want anymore. The regular Reeses cups tasted the same to me. Especially good when refrigerated.

The Reeses ones that we gave out this year seemed skinnier.

Yuck! I tried the Justin's once and I thought it was awful. And I love chocolate!

Same! Justin’s was so bad, which I thought was impossible for chocolate and PB

This is why I just dip high quality chocolate right into the PB jar.

I ate a couple of regular Reeses from my kid's stash and I thought it tasted different. I couldn't quite figure out how, but it was definitely different.
