Halloween candy critique: Reese's tastes different

Anonymous
Have they changed their recipe? I haven't had them in awhile. We gave out the pumpkin shaped ones and I also swiped a regular one from DD's loot and they just don't taste right. Less peanut buttery, less dense, like there is more air mixed in or something. Such a disappointment. Not that this is a bad thing, at least it is keeping me from eating all the leftovers. Is it just me?

I think the regular ones are the same, but the pumpkin or egg (at Easter) shaped ones always taste different to me and I cant eat them. I prefer the small ones though.

The pumpkin and egg taste different because they are much thicker, thus the peanut butter to chocolate ratio is much higher than it is for the little cups.

I think the chocolate alone tastes different, like rubberier or something.

Hmm, I hadn't noticed. I do notice that M & Ms don't taste the same as they used to. I think they use more cheap candy shell, and less chocolate. I used to LOVE them, but they really aren't the same.

PP here - I'll have to go check out the reese's now! My guess is they're trying to cut costs.

OMG slightly offtopic but I LOVE the minis (unwrapped in a bag like m&ms or something). Sooooo good and too easy to throw back the full bag so quickly.

FastBreak bars are the best thing to ever happen to Reeses and me and are so seriously underrated. Amazing on their own, but crumble one up with a spoon of vanilla ice cream and you will never eat another chocolate again.

I was JUST saying this to DH last night. I don't know if it's maybe the snack size or something, but I agree that the chocolate tastes "cheaper". I don't know how to describe it, but it has a different mouth feel.

M&Ms definitely taste different. And those red ones (aside from any dye issues) are HORRIBLE.

Maybe they had to change the recipe in order to make the shape?

ITA m&ms are not as good as they used to be, I don't like them anymore. And Reese's holiday shapes always taste different to me, compared to the regular ones -
