Wet Hair Irks

You and me both. I'm trying to lose enough weight so I'll look good bald.

Maybe OP needs to start driving so she doesn't have to see all us wet hair weirdoes.

I also have thick, wavy hair and I dry it enough to stop it being sopping wet, then put it in a clip. By lunch I take it down and it mostly dry and has soft waves.

But I drive to work

Can't believe so many wear their hair wet outside.

I go out with wet hair every day. I also wash every day. And I'm AA. I can NOT figure out how to do my (curly) hair without washing it.

I am weird, I know, but with all my products, at least I smell delicious. Doesn't look as good. Sue me. I drive to work and my hair gets dry by the time I get to work. I wear a hat if it's super cold. I have been doing this since the 90s.

OP still has not addressed the issue of how she is coming into physical contact with so much wet hair...

What is your makeup routine, OP? Is it you I see at Fort Totten in the morning with an eyelash curler?

Oh Lawwwwd, don't even get me started on people who are applying their makeup or filing their nails while on public transportation. Wet hair is nothing compared to that!

I shower at night -- never blow dry my hair. It's stick straight.

I really want to know how and why the OP is touching so many people's hair

I nEVer blowdry my hair, haven't for years. It's long and thick and almost perfectly straight, would take forever to blowdry. That being said I don't whip it around like Elle Woods either, lol.

I always hated it when I would go dancing and somebody's long (usually damaged) hair would hit me. Yuk. I can't see how you would come into contact with someone's wet hair on the metro though.

Do you know how disgusting it feels to have someone else' hair pressing against you and your clothes? I am a woman, I also wash my hair every day, but I blow dry it or air dry it AT HOME. Yes, I also put on make up at home. It really doesn't take THAT long.

Fight the laziness!!!

I'm not lazy. I have a medical condition that makes all small motor skills really difficult, like handwriting, finely dicing food, and blowdrying hair. Plus, it takes my hair about 24 hours to fully dry. I wring out my hair a few times after I get out of the shower, and then I either braid or bun it for the commute to work. Also, I don't air-dry quickly. Those beads of water would just sit on my body/hair for well over an hour. Sorry my sheer existance annoys you, but hey it could be worse - I could wear perfume or even, not shower at all, ever.

Now that's just weird. Are you covered in fur?

Anonymous wrote:OP here. Well, it looks like this post really picked up. For those of you asking me about my hair type: yes, I have shoulder length thick curly hair. Yes, I blowdry. No, I don't color. Yes, my hair is in excellent condition.

And yes, I think people with wet hair and full make up are gross. So there. Come and rip me apart

Well, I don't wear the pancake makeup that you must. I'm just not that ugly.

I have thick hair. If I put it up in a ponytail when it is wet (sometimes to get it out of my face) it might still be wet hours later. Seriously, it takes forever to dry. It's not usually "sopping wet" by the time I get on the metro though; it has usually dried a bit.

So, this is, I guess, once every 3/4 months? So, after years of having to hop out of the pool, shower and dress and be out at the bus 15 mins. after getting out of the pool, you learn to pare down your routine to the bare, and I mean BARE, essentials!

PS And my hair is so healthy, too, b/c of this lack of blow-drying, I think. Every time I do have other people touch my hair, they are like, "It's soo soft!!!!" I literally think I will be like 80 years old and still doing "wash-and-go"!

Agree..I'm a former competitive swimmer and I think there is a correlation between time spent breathing chlorine and ability to blow-dry and style one's hair. At least my hair no longer has a green chlorine tint (-:

Yes-- blow drying damages dry, curly hair, and thick hair in general dries slowly. Sorry, OP, but curly girls generally prefer to air dry.
