Seriously. BFD, people. Get a grip. Do you know what the federal deficit is? Time to make some hard chocies. |
as an immigrant who learned to speak english in part because of sesame street in my formative years (no english spoken at home), i find romney's planned defunding of a program that develops self-sufficient citizens sad and ironic in light of the republican stance on immigrants. |
I am not pretending anything. However, I would argue that the benefits of reading and exercise far outweigh those from sitting in front of your 98" TV set watching big bird (Sesame Street isn't going anywhere, get real). Pretending otherwise is neither erudite nor virtuous. |
+1 |
Did you learn how to use a computer from Sesame street? Sad. And ironic. Personally, I'd like to take the budget ax literally to Abbie Cadabby as soon as humanly possible, she brings NOTHING to the table. |
This just a distraction technique. Dems want to move the dialogue far away from the real issues in this country: jobs and the economy. I don't care what else is going on. Its about jobs and the economy and that includes making umpopular and tough painful cuts in spending. |
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it was Romney who brought up Big Bird, not the president. |
NP who didn't read everything.
Many years ago there was a news story about why PBS was receiving government subsidies (I wish I could find it). They make more than enough to stay on the air, so why give them tax dollars they don't need? It's the same as subsidizing a healthy business. |
Which we do in spades. Look up Exxon Mobile. Agribusiness. Every major sports stadium.
|
15:15, you're right. I'm against subsidizing them too! |

We need to stop that, too! |
Yes, Romney is really focused on the big issues. |
You are DEAD. WRONG. In many smaller (read: rural) markets, the local PBS station is a critical source of news and quality kids programming for people who either don't have cable or can't afford it. And they absolutely cannot exist without government subsidies. And, for people who actually work in this realm and understand it (as in, not you), the Corporation for Public Broadcasting is one of the most efficient and effective public-private partnerships ever, and one that most Americans cherish. Independent non-partisan studies have found that hte majority of Americans don't want cuts to PBS (which is a miniscule portion of the federal budget anyway). Learn something about an issue before you post ignorant uninformed tripe, okay? http://valuepbs.org/ |
Romney is the one who mentioned cutting a service that 7 in 10 Americans value and want, and you're accusing who of playing small ball and focusing on distractions? Are you the pot, or the kettle? Either way, you're a big fat hypocrite and this is a lame attempt at defending your lame candidate. |
