There is a lake in Finland called Inari. |
|
My daughter's name is Anari Adelaide. The name means innocent or novice in Hindi, without enemies in Sanskrit, and inexpert in Urdu. It also means pomegranate (divine fruit, lit.) in some dialects.
We chose that over Inari (from Finnish mythology) primarily because we prefer the spelling. |
| Now you know that Inari is a type of sushi and if you name your daughter that, you are subjecting her to being associated with that food whenever someone Japanese or from Hawaii meets her. Don't do it. |
| If the name is meaningful in your language, go for it. (I like Inari better than Anari.) It's pretty, and it's easy to explain why you chose a Japanese name. |
|
I like Inari. "My little tofu packet" is an awesome term of endearment!
/totally not s |
| Hate them both |
| I think they are both lovely. |
Gee, talk about a non sequitur... you resurrect an old thread to tell us that your daughter's name is Hindi?
|
| If English speaking people can name their kids Cupcake and Popcorn, I say more power to you as a Japanese speaking person for naming DC Inari. |
| how about Ursula? |
| Reuben is a biblical name. It came around far before the sanwich and I dont think sandwich when I hear the name. In hebrew, it means "Look, a son" |
| I think it's beautiful! And I don't normally like unusual names. |
| I think Inari is lovely. |
|
