Last summer was bad and the summer before that was even worse. I forget the figures but the majority of July was well over 90 degrees. I specifically remember most days being closer to 100. People who haven't lived elsewhere don't realize how nice it can be to have the windows open most of the summer. When I first moved here, I was amazed how so many houses don't have screen doors in the front and back doors. Now I know why. The AC has to be on so much of the time.
That said, it has been a cooler than normal spring and summer so far. |
I'm from Georgia. This weather is nothing to me. But I remember one summer my family rented a house in Cape Cod and I was FLOORED to discover there was no air conditioning in the house. It just wasn't necessary. |

All I know is, I was pregnant last summer, so this one is definitely better!
Seriously, though, last summer broke all kinds of records. Check out the Capital Weather Gang blog. |
If I can have Jon Snow or Robb Stark, bring on winter! |
| We didn't even turn on the air conditioning today. Now, tomorrow -- tomorrow it will be stinky hot. |

OP, where did you move here from? Alaska?
Summers in DC are truly miserable, and, yes, this one has not been particularly bad. But it's not even July yet. Sigh. |
| It's gross here during the summer but I've been through worse. Monsoon season overseas is hotter and more humid. Yuck! |

At least we aren't in...Denver:
http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-505245_162-57461614/denver-ties-record-5-days-at-100-or-higher/ "DENVER — The National Weather Service says the temperature in Denver has reached 100 degrees or higher for the fifth straight day, tying a record set in 2005 and 1989. The temperature at Denver International Airport hit 105 degrees Tuesday for the second straight day." |
Well, it's on its way here. |
