No, I said women can do TCM before starting IVF. And some complementary therapies are documented to be helpful, such as acupuncture.
One can argue that putting in embies in older women with no regard to the health of those embies is quackery also. It results in miscarriages, loss of precious time, scar tissue on uterine wall, grief...when RE's should know most eggs for older women are already damaged. It would be wiser, arguably, to do chromosomal testing first to screen for defective embies and do TCM to improve egg quality first. Infertility is random. All of life doesn't have to be as random as you would assume. Diet, supplements, acupuncture, TCM, stress management, all can help to improve the odds, making life less random for some women. Again, it sounds like you haven't tried these therapies so why knock it. |
| Got pregnant with IVF x 3 at age 40-41 but lost first 2 pregnancies; IVF #3 was a success at age 41; Dr. Chang at Shady Grove is our doctor - he is wonderful. He gave us the statistics for IVF success for age 40+ but my husband and I figured if we just wanted to act based on numbers we would never try IVF at all. |
