Why is/are Beyonce and certain black performers obsessed with being "white" via lightened hair, extensions, lightening their skin, etc.?
Oops. Wrong thread. |
This would have been convincing if you'd actually posted the "oops" as a follow-up.
re: your Beyonce question. I don't do this. You'd have to ask the women who do (include Indian and Asian women for a broad perspective). Oh..and include white women too because they also lighten their hair and wear extensions and bleach their skin. |
1) Not sure. 2) Yes. 3) ...good to know. What do you think I'm going to "get up to?" |
| When you pass a black man in the halls at work, on the street, or in the grocery store what are you thinking, if anything? |
"Ok, I need to remember to swing by the dry cleaners on the way home, but I don't think we need milk, so I can probably go straight to the bank from there..." |
| LOL! That's great!! This eases my mind. |
| Who is your favorite character on Downton Abbey? |
The dowager countess, of course. |
Yes, it drives me nuts! I think it's youthful insecurity. |
At the grocery store - hmmm, does he have a nice ass? Wait, he's in front of the rice, ugh, get out of my way. At work - Hi Ken (or other colleague) |
Mary. |
Sorry, my dear, but uptalking has officially infiltrated our language. Even G. W. Bush did it (though, hey, I'd buy the insecurity thing with him, for sure). If you're not uptalking, it's because you're a dying breed. True fact. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/02/28/science/young-women-often-trendsetters-in-vocal-patterns.html?_r=4&emc=eta1&pagewanted=all |
