OMG I can't wait until we stop talking about Whitney Houston

She was your pathetic spectacle then but now in death, she's a saint? Shame on all of you!, shame on you America. You are the same vultures you who built her up, tore her down and are now building her up again in death.

Same shit you all pulled with Michael Jackson, fuckers!

You know that there are shades of gray in perceptions right? You need to chill with your retribution posts, pp.

At least she's not a pedophile.

What a hateful, jealous troll you are, OP

For Pete's sake, we spent weeks talking about Steve Jobs' death. This is an appropriate level of discussion for someone as famous and successful as she was, who died young.

I am just curious, why do you posters keep calling her a whore. Perhaps in the conscious of your minds you believe all women are whores. Thus, your mother, your daughter, and your sisters are all whores. Yes whore, I am talking about you PPs.

She was very beautiful, talented and had an incredible voice, and played in movies as well like in "the Bodyguard" where she showed a lot of grace, big voice and talent without her that movie would not have profited so much. She was a mega star and diva who was very famous and only fell out of grace after she married Bobby Brown--bad choice, he was not a good fit for her. Until then, she had a very impressive career and left us with a legacy of videos (with her beautiful and powerful voice) that will remain and keep her voice alive and remembered.

What we should be discussing is the cult of celebrity worship in this country, which most of us contribute to with discussions like this, subscriptions to People magazine and continuing to allow Perez Hilton to have a job. Unless we're talking about some ruthless dictator who slaughtered thousands of his own people, speaking ill of the dead is just wrong. It really has nothing to do with Whitney Houston per se and it is disheartening to read all the nasty comments about someone who is dead. Do all I think all of the hoopla is excessive?-absolutely. That's my point. Don't blame Whitney Houston, or Michael Jackson or Elvis or whomever. Whatever achievements and mistakes they made in their lives is irrelevant. I guarantee you, dying is not a publicity stunt.

Agreed. For me, she was just an entertainer with an exceptional singing voice. I never felt drawn to her or her life style. No judgement, just facts.

BTW, Whitney did not do crack. Her words, crack is whack and for poor people. I think she preferred the more genteel cocaine and prescription drugs, mixed in with high end brandy and vodka.

The reality is that most men are the whores. On another note, love how the Catholic Church is up in arms when it comes to contraceptives for WOMEN but tries to sweep MOLESTATION by MALE PRIESTS under the rug. Talk about misogyny.

How the hell did we get here?

Well now, that makes all the difference, huh?

Different celebrities affect different people to a greater or lesser degree. When Princess Diana died (ok, for you standards specific people, why is the ex-wife of a Prince entitled to the royal treatment? The Queen stripped her of her title in the divorce), I didn't get the mass grief, although I did watch the funera. One thing the British Royal Family is really good at is putting on beautiful ceremonies.

I also didn't get amny other episodes of mass grief we have had. Whitney Houston did not affect me that much. I also think her decline is very sad and that she did have an amazing voive. If youa re not clear on this, listen to Jennifer Hudson's tribute to her at the Grammy Awards and then Whitney's version of the same song. Hudson was very, very good, but Whitney blows her out of the water. Still, I won't be spending much time thinking about this or mourning her.

But Michael Jackson? That brought me to my knees. First and only time I fell for mass grief. It wasn't just about his music, either. He also holds the Guiness Book of World Records title for most charitable giving by a celebrity, and much of his music was about making the world a better place. (And to the pedophile PP, have you actually read the trial transcripts? Or do you take your "facts" from the National Enquirer. The jury didn't get it wrong, and they actually heard the evidence.)

Let the Whitney people have their moment. Many of them feel just as strongly about Whitney for their own reasons as I did about Michael. If you re sick of it, watch something else.

So, you're so sick of all the talk about Whitney that you start an entire thread to TALK about it???

I guess that makes sense on your planet...

I think when threads get too long people start missing the point. I've read, "don't blame Whitney, it's the public's fault." The entire point was, the public is stupid. It isn't her fault that idiots idolize her life.

Second point, to compare her to Princess Diana is also insulting. Name ONE charitable thing Whitney did? Diana was an all around good person, good mother, and good citizen of our planet.

Third point, a lot of hypocrisy going on. You say we shouldn't discount all of the good she has done because of her addiction, but we are automatically supposed to discount the bad? How does that work?
