I can understand why we all don't want our minds to go there, but it's done. The great society is not sustainable. Too many takers, not enough givers. You can raise taxes, then growth will stall. Producers will avoid being the clydesdales for a welfare state and either throttle back on producing or hide/shift/reorganize resources. This is human nature 101 which egghead liberals have no understanding of. We have been living in a state of massive borrowing and living beyond our means for a very long time. The cracks are showing, pain is on the way. Everybody is at fault we all know socialism doesn't work but it seems so easy and seductive. Well, it leads to poverty. Capitalism mixed with volentary faith and morality/charity are the drivers of wealth and prosperity. They require more work and diligence than socialism and do not patronize non-sense. We still have it in us to reset our country and we will. |
You might make sense if there were not evidence that directly contradicts what you are saying. During the Reagan administration, taxes were higher than today and there was significant economic growth. Under Clinton, taxes were higher than today and there was significant economic growth. Under Bush and Obama, low taxes have not resulted in significant economic growth. To the contrary, we suffered a recession and are about to enter into the second dip of that recession. Like it or not, the engine that drives our economy is consumption. When the vast majority of people feel economically threatened, they don't consume. Hence, no growth. What we are seeing is a massive transfer of wealth to the richest of the richest who don't really care about general economic growth so long as they see personal financial growth. I understand why they are happy about this situation. I just don't know why so many who are on the wrong side of the equation are so happy about it. |
No, we will not. This country is the farthest thing for a socialist state. He countries that are doing well and will over take us are all socialist. Command economies. Your producers take the money out of he country and do not produce jobs. The tax rate is at historial lows and no jobs. Why? |
It's been a long time since the term "command economy" fit a modern socialist democracy. The government does not control private enterprise. It regulates and taxes it, but it does not tell you what to produce or whether you can go into business. |
Unless you want to drill, mine, build a factory, develop a housing tract.....as long as you just want to be a lawyer or some other non-productive enterprise, the command govt will leave you alone. We've been living in dreamworld for a long time. Our ass-kicking is at hand. |
