Nip -- Cat Nip.

Spot or Lassie -- so ironic in a hipster sort of way.

Pss -- the noise anyone from a city or suburb thinks is the universal way to call any animal.

Hello -- Hello Kitty.

Kitty Galore -- for the James Bond fans.

When I was 7 I insisted on naming our cat Betsy after Carolyn Haywood's Betsy series. I still love the name! Has that "eee" ending that animals seem to notice.

Edie Puss? My grandparents' friends had a cat with this name, although it might have been an Eddie Puss. You have to like Greek tragedy, though.

My best friend from college moved to Brooklyn with her best friend from high school right after graduation. About a month after they moved in, her friend adopted a cat. On my suggestion, she named her Rally and called her Rally Cat as a nickname.

It was in honor of getting up and "rallying" the next morning. We were so young then. I still like the name, though.
