so sick of the gloating

14:10 - BTW, I can't believe I'm still here explaining irony and challenging "rules" about who can be criticized and which posters are apparently immune to criticism. But it's so ludicrous it's sort of fascinating....

If your school is accredited by a legit organization there is a minimum number of days students have to attend.

could OP weigh on on the original intention of thread?

Who cares?

Seriously, who cares? Doesn't OP's post speak for itself?

OP needs to grow some. How about smiling and saying, "Thank you, but we're very happy with our school." No need to say more, because that would be tacky and she'd be stooping to their level. All she needs to do is tell them she's happy with her kids' school.

And the poster who wants to control what aspects of OP's post people are allowed to criticize, and what aspects are off-limits, and wants OP to weigh in as some arbiter who decides it all, needs to have her head examined.

PP you need your head examined.

Guess they need longer to cover the same material

Most of the gloating I hear is from parents of kids in private schools -- stickers on the back of the car, etc.
Anonymous
So is a Sidwell bumper sticker "gloating" while a "Janney Jaguars" or a "My kid is an honor roll student at (fill in the blank)" is not? To me, it's all the same.

Oh, wow, folks -- don't get in a head to head with 10:17 who is probably 14:13. She or He is on fire about this word gloating.
Anonymous
I'm 14:13, but I'm not 10:17. My concern is less about gloating qua gloating, and more about fairness - why some think it's OK to criticize one group, but not a second group when they do the exact same thing. This is a dumb thread anyway, fabricated from a non-issue, so why not introduce grander, more glorious principles of equality and justice?

Or everybody just go back to doing what you were doing....

I'm curious which school and which public system. We switched this year from private to MoCo and the school day is half an hour longer in MoCo.

stickers = gloating? I guess, but how did you make it this far in life? Do you wear college sweatshirts, knowing that many people do not have a college education?

I'm not the poster in question but the MpCo elementary schools are in class from 8:55 am to 3:30 pm and my private elementary school in in class form 8:10 to 3:30 (45 minutes longer for the private) My private high school starts school at 8:00am and finishes at 3:10pm and the regular school day for MoCo high schools runs from 7:25am to 2:10pm (25 minutes longer for the private). I've always assumed the different school year start and stop dates reflected the differences between the hours of the school day and differing non-school days during the year. In other words, it all comes out in the wash.

Time to get your psychic powers checked. I just responded skeptically to the bumper stickers=gloating analogy, questioning whether the person who made it saw all such school-related stickers as a form of gloating. Seemed overwrought to me.
