$600/month is nothing. I get $1,262 for my daughter, though that will drop by $500-$600 once she's out of preschool. My ex has never complained.
It's not your concern how she spends her own money. The Lexus might be a gift from a sugar daddy or a family member OR she got a really great lease agreement. You can lease some very nice cars for just a few hundred a month, cheaper than buying. I've considered doing that myself because I have a weakness for a sweet ride and hate to spend $500+/month. I think maybe the husband should try to talk her out of the $20K/year school, though. If she's only making $50K and there isn't a scholarship, guess who'll end up paying for that school? Your husband. And if you're paying that much for private elementary, that'll eat into potential college savings, which I think is more important. That said, on her income, she's probably living in a pretty crap school district and she might be freaking out that her kid will end up hanging w/ bad influences. |

23:32 Education choices are highly subjective. One could argue that a sound base is worth the investment, and that a child should apply for FA aid, since there's plenty at the college level.
As I've posted above, I think OP should butt out. If her husband's want to help this woman and their granddaughter, that's their choice. OP, you are making lots of assumptions without complete information. Oh, when it comes to college, OP's salary gets including in the FA calculation! Even though it is excluded from the child support calculation. OP, did you know this? So if you make a high salary, it will work against this child when she applies for financial aid. |
