| I think the "simply" "perhaps" poster is back. |
| I should have known ... the DCUMMIE surfing simple minded ignoramus! Welcome. |
Huh? |
| Yep |
| To OP - absolutely supplement if you think your kid(s) need it. KUMON is drilling and great - there is nothing wrong with drilling. I'm a mom who works outside the home - I prefer to play with my kids vs. drill them. My choice. I know I could be the supplement but I prefer to do other stuff with my kids. It depends on how you want to spend time with your kids. In sum - drilling isn't evil - some kids need it and most parents aren't equipped to effecitvely teach their kids or choose that path. That's why we send them to school to get educated by the *experts* vs. choose to home school. |
| I have noticed that many posters keep referring to "Math facts". What do you mean by this term? Thanks. |
Congratulations. You've found what works for you and your kids. I'm glad you've finally found experts to teach and lead them. We're not in the market for your experts. |
My daughter went to Kumon for 1 year. We liked it at the beginning. It helped her in math calculation skills. But over time, the benefit is no longer that visible and we feel more pressure on its monthly bills, so I stopped. Now she is doing beestar. She likes very much. I signed for Math, ELA and Vocabulary in beestar. It’s worth it.

| My upcoming 5th Grader and 2nd Grader have been in the program 4 and 3 years respectively. I want them to complete the entire Math sequence before the end of middle school when it may be more difficult to get their attention with emergiing extracurricular activities and my tutoring and mentoring activities move in other directions. So far, the benefits for them are indisputable as witnessed by their school performance and scores in standardized exams. |
| My sister went for 3 years while attending private school in NYC. She was terrible at math, and Kumon really helped her to keep up with her class. It was expensive for my parents, but they didn't want her to fail or get a terrible grade, so the extra help was worth the money. |
