"Magical" my ass. I'm calling CPS if I so much as hear a peep out of OP's kids, for her entitled attitude alone. Completely inappropriate to have your kids out at that hour, OP.

This doesn't have anything to do with whether or not OP should take her children to Wicked at the KC...but a month ago my DH took my DD (3 and 1/2) to Disney Princess on Ice at First Mariner arena in Bmore and it started at 7:30 and lasted nearly two hours. She did great. Obviously some kid's shows do start later in the evening, unless someone wants to argue princess on ise is for adults. Are you seriously arguing that even on a special occasion a five and six year old cannot be out until 10 or so?

ITA! We're not talking about a 2 y.o. here. If your 5 and 6 y.o. cant sit still, dont make that OPs problem. I know lots of kids who can sit nicely through a show.

The Kennedy Center has an Office of Accessibility. I would call them.

Do you know lots of kids that can sit nicely for 2 hours and 45 minutes? Past their bedtimes?

pp, just because your kid can't sit for more than 20 minutes through Dora, doesn't mean it's not possible for a 5 and 6 year old to sit for more than 2 hours past their bedtime.

Without uttering a word? Or having a snack?

I spent $300. each seat for KC's Wicked. SO HELP OP if I so much as hear her kids. You WILL meet my wrath. I will be surprising you. It wont be pleasant. Suffice it to say you WILL be leaving early.

Its possible of course, that her children fall into the top 1/2 percent of calm, placid, quiet, well mannered but alert children who have a gift for staying calm, placid, quiet and well mannered well into the night at hours equivilant to 2 or 3 AM for most adults. Its is highly unlikely. But possible.

I have three young children and this sums it up for me.

I took my 3 yo daughter to the Nutcracker at the Kennedy center. As expected, she did remarkably well, whispering into my ear only once during the whole performance. We were on the first row of the upper balcony and had no problem seeing from there. Months later, she still talks about the KC, the Nutcracker, Clara, and ballerinas...and recognizes the music.

If they are too small to see the show properly, that's your first hint that they're too young to go to this. End of story.

When we took our kids to Mary Poppins, I think the family in the row in front of us had a backless booster. Couldn't swear to it though.

NP here . . . if OP paid for tickets, she and her children have just as much right to the seats as you do. If you do something as disruptive as you suggest you will do, I suspect YOU will be the one leaving. Escorted by security.

OMG PP, you took your KIDS to see MARY POPPINS??!!! AT THE KENNEDY CENTER OPERA HOUSE???? WHERE ADULTS PAID MONEY TO HAVE TICKETS??? WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU???

I'm calling CPS.

I would suggest aisle seats without exception if you are bringing booster seats. If you have seats in the middle of the aisle and need to leave for some reason it's going to be all kinds of disruptive to stand up, gather your kids, your bag(s), yourself, your coats AND two booster seats and then make your way down the aisle past all the legs and knees, holding all that stuff.
