Dr. Lopez in Alexandria is pretty great

Regarding Bethesda Dental Specialties, it is true that Dr. Lopez is not affiliated with that practice any longer? You'd think the practice would notify patients of the change. Who has taken his place? We've seen Karen Weil, and she was fine, but she can't be handling the practice by herself?

OK I found out Dr. Lopez is gone and there is another dentist besides Dr. Weil in there. Plus about a million admin people, including a marketing director. That place has really gone to the dogs. It's impossible to get an appointment. Today I called because my child had a fall and it was an emergency and they told us they were closed tomorrow and that we could go to the hospital if it was really an emergency. Note to Marketing Director: it does no good to market a service you're apparently incapable of providing. Off to find another dentist now.

I am also looking for a Pediatric dentist in North Arlington and found Dr. Reardon near Ballston and Dr. Edward Nelson off Glebe Rd. mentioned couple of times. But, the reviews are coming from Yr2009-2014. Any recent experiences with either doctor? Appreciate very much.

My toddler did great with Dr. Vlasek in Northern VA. Not a pediatric dentist, but a mobile regular dentist who comes to your house and does the exam and cleaning right there. It saves us from having to drive out, which is cool too. It's a new concept that most people haven't heard of, but it's worth knowing about.

Highly recommend dr Michelle keaney in ballston neighborhood of N Arlington! My children adore her and she and her staff are wonderful. She has a beautiful new office and validates parking in her garage. Cannot recommend her highly enough!

We have liked Dr. Weil the few times we have seen her. But I have wondered how/why they can have so much admin staff. Doesn't seem to make sense and not sure how it adds up.

We went to Dr. Altmon in northwest DC and he was awesome. My DS is a nervous kid and was freaked out by the dentist. Our first dentist had recommended hospitalization and general anesthesia so he could fill my DS' 3 cavities. We went to Dr. Altmon for a second opinion and he was able to fill the cavities in his office using conscious sedation (basically drugs that relax your kid enough so the dentist can fill the cavities). Saved us the risks associated with general anesthesia and probably $2,000. And Dr. Altmon is just funny and really seems to connect with kids. I seriously could not recommend him highly enough!

A bunch of these dentists in the old posts have died - It might be best to start a new thread rather than resurrecting an old one.

Dr Christine Reardon is a superstar. Skilled and she really cares about the kids which is a big deal if your kid has a more serious issue - you can really trust her judgement on what to do. Her office is cherry and the kids love to go there.
Only downside is they only participate with a few insurances so her work is probably only covered at 70-80% by your insurance.

Dr. Josephine Oguntimein in Petworth is very good. Took my son there and she handled it perfectly. Communicates with kids and parents very well. Even met her daughter at the office while we were there.

Dr. Shahinfar above the Rodmans on Wisconsin is OK, but eye-bleedingly expensive.
