19:48, you are wrong. Read the Post. It's funded under a "CSM" model and don't be so lazy that you can't click the link above about High Schools. Seriously, are you a DCPS grad? |
Um, military personnel is exempt from that law: changing tags within 30 days. We get to keep our tags regardless of the state of issue! |
It may be standard practice, but it is not illegal. I have VA tags, own a property in VA where we pretty much stay on the weekends; and own a house, live and pay taxes in DC. I attend a charter, and will proudly continue to dropoff DC with my VA tags! |
Nothing going on in the military that you had to dig up a thread that is months old to tell us that? |
If you are a DC resident (live most of the time, vote, etc.) and the vehicle is used here, you may wish to "proudly" display VA tags but the vehicle should properly have DC tags. |
Don't you know that residing in "Ward 9" has its privileges in DC? |
operative word, "should". I have offstreet parking so I have not had any issues. I'll keep my VA plates Thank you very much! Mind YOUR business.. |
|
Let her be an idiot and pay the crazy annual VA auto taxes. |
Must not be too much of an idiot, I am enjoying the best of both worlds.... and you, a$$whip? |
How is that enjoying the best of both worlds? And regardless of what you think, it is illegal. If you are a resident of DC, you should have DC tags. Owning a property in another state (VA or otherwise) does not exempt you from the law. Even if you claim that you are a "Recurring Visitor" (as DC DMV states...which you would not qualify for being that you already stated that you are a DC resident), you have to register as a recurring visitor with DC dmv. So you keep breaking the law and calling people a$$whips if you want. You must be so proud to be bucking the system. What a great example for your kids. I hope someone does make a complaint about you at your school (if only to cause more of an inconvenience to you than it would be by going to the DC dmv and paying $72 fee). A$$wipe! |
PP is correct. We maintain and rent out our house in MD, and live and work in DC after moving here over a year ago. We have changed our licenses and tags. I believe you are required to do so if you stay in DC for more than 30 days, unless you fulfill several requirements, whereby you can remain with your tags and license for 180 days. Not sure of the full details, but the VA person is certainly in the wrong here. |
And just to add...just because VA is close-by, that doesn't mean what you're doing is any more legitimate. VA is a different state, period. I doubt that you would feel so confident in what you're doing if you had FL tags and licenses, and lived, worked and paid taxed in DC. |
*taxes* |
Get a damn life, tag monitors! I pay my DC taxes, my kids attend DC school, my DC and VA taxes are paid---why the hell do you care about my tags!I have my reasons, and I won't be going to jail over the tags!! If someone gets " their panties in a bunch" and notifies the school, I don't care and it's no inconvenience, I have a deed and a W4! give it a rest, and live your life! I am perfectly fine.. |
