Oh, I don't find it threatening in the slightest lol. I find it mildly pathetic because I like strong women and like her work generally, it's just a little sad to see someone who has worked hard, fought stereotypes in Hollywood and generally been extremely successful decide the next decade+ is to be dedicated to recouping the "hot 20s" she never had by embracing disordered eating and hawking laxatives and enemas (literally...anything including those things). It's like if Chtistine Lagarde decided her next chapter in life was to Lauren Sanchez herself and make it into Sports Illustrated while pulling cash from Only Fans subscriptions. It's trashy and off putting. It is NOT "threatening."

We equate weight loss and thinness with being hot in our society, but that’s not really Mindy‘s fault. I believe her when she said she had diabetes in her family and also being heavy is I imagine not fun on your joints and stuff as you age and enter perimenopause, which is an inflammatory state to begin with. Being overweight inflames your body so that’s not a great combination.

There are actually health benefits, so I don’t judge her for taking the medication.

Mindy was not heavy enough that it was a strain on her joints! She was regular sized woman.

Is Michelle Obama on GLP-1? She doesn’t look good with her lower weight (imo) and I have a hard time accepting ‘strong women’ who seem to be caving to the beauty standard of being thin.

The only reason she doesn’t have the GLP-1 face is because she’s brown, not white.

I’m South Asian and I very much developed Ozempic face. I take the medication to manage diabetes so it’s a trade off I’m willing to make.

You might, but somebody just up the thread was lumping her in with Amy Schumer, who’s been very honest about her weight loss journey, and her use of GLP medications. she was even honest about starting one that didn’t even have her lose weight because the side effects were so bad she had to stop. She absolutely didn’t have to tell anyone that, but she did. And then when she found another combination that worked, she was honest about that, and GASP dared to post that she felt good and liked the way she looked.

Women can’t win. We actually hate them when they’re overweight, but somehow we hate them even more when they lose the weight.

The problem with GLP1s is that people use them to merely lose fat, and not work on building muscle.

That when you start looking sick. They lose too much fat, and they don't build any real fitness. They end up looking fragile.

Yes, but you can adjust the dosage to help with that. Mindy probably needs to taper to a lower dosage. Or, switch out her running habit for lifting heavy weights.

I love Mindy’s work and find her to be extremely talented and very thoughtful and introspective whenever I hear her on an interview etc. That said, it is very obvious to anyone who has listened to even just a couple of interviews or read a couple of pieces of her writing, that she has body image issues and felt fat / undesirable for much of her youth and adulthood until this weight loss. She reminds me a lot of girls who used to be fat in high school or college, but then slimmed down and glammed up. We all have our individual issues and this is hers. She is obsessed with physical image, probably like people with much less brains / work ethic/ talent than her are obsessed with seeming important and smart.
No fault of hers. I do think it’s weird how vocal she is about eating smaller portions, but Hollywood and media made such a big deal about her size for so long, I’m sure they did a number on her as well.

The thing is most people on GLP1s actually do ear smaller portions. The drugs get rid of “food noise” and make you feel much fuller than normal. So she’s not really lying about that. She just might be leaving off that she’s taking medication to help her with that.

This is the case with most celebrities/actors. Larger heads seem to be preferred.

They do, but that often looks worse or equally bad. You need to do facial exercises to tone the face muscles when you lose that much facial fat that quickly. People think facercise is ridiculous but it works.

Either impressing BJ Novak still or her upbringing, who cares. She can do what she wants. She doesn't have to include us.
