Couples who make more than $250,000 are rich? |
| Why not first cut all the waste? DC is spending money like drunk sailors. |
The city council can raise taxes to the moon and spend the money on the dumbest stuff imaginable and no one will complain. It's pretty remarkable how compliant people are here. |
Uh, yes? |
What are the specific cuts you propose? |
This is Brianne Nadeau's "wealth tax" proposal which would have more impact on many Ward 3 residents than the income tax surcharge that Frumin floated, which is probably why he floated it. Either way, the Mayor is right, making up tax policy like this is not the way to do it, but I can see why the Council wants to float ideas to counter the CFO's suggestion that cuts are made. |
A married couple who are both teachers in DCPS, and who have two kids, are rich? |
DC is the land of wasteful spending. The city will spend $50 million building a single bridge that's only for bicyclists. |
Total spending by the DC government has gone up by about 30 percent over the past five years. Has your salary gone up by 30 percent in five years? |
almost all of that money is federal, so cutting that isn't really saving any DC money |
If you think $250k+ household income isn't doing pretty well, I don't know what to tell you. |
Silly rabbit. Your job as a citizen is to shut up, pay, and claim to like it. The city gets better and more efficient as tax revenues continue to increase. Haven’t you noticed? Just be happy and don’t think about it too much. Besides, government officials always get wiser and more skillful as their power increases. |
2 income 250K household with childcare expense isn't doing well. If you disagree, then let's see how you describe their lifestyle and day to day. What is "rich", how do you think they live? |
+1. A married couple with kids in daycare that bought a house in the last 5 years in DC are living paycheck to paycheck on $250k after taxes. That’s something young, single, DSA apartment renters do not fully grasp. Especially when their parents are paying their rent. Vote wisely. |
| Cut the vouchers that triggered a spike in crime. Cut the Chevy Chase Rec Center development project that will enrich developers. That guy needs to go. And cut the and reverse approvals for pot dispensaries basically adjacent to high schools. Total disaster. Anyone notice dispensaries NOT located near schools in WARD 3? Seems to be a feature, not a bug. |
