If you are just talking about the former-- I deeply disagree with and dislike Taylor, but he was asked by County Council to make lists to tell them who would be laid off depending on how much funding was passed or not. And honestly, I kind of feel like it would be *more* disrespectful to put a list out there saying certain of your employees are in line to be cut but then not say anything to those employees directly?

The jobs aren't actually going to be cut. This happens every year. It's just a game between our esteemed leaders

I can confirm that one of our junior teachers receive such a notice two weeks ago. The notice was explicit about the reason being funding cuts. So even the budget hasn't been approved yet, TT has been starting to lay off teachers due to budget cut.

That's not a layoff. That is a threatening letter insisting it is the recipient's job to demand funding from taxpayers so they can continue to be employed, even though the job actually isn't under threat.

Also now, the Superintendent is whining about having to justify a multi-billion dollar budget with a massive increase in the face of declining enrollment. He had to do it last year too, poor guy.

The really frustrating part with all of this, or at least it is for me, is that this has kind of become like an annual journey for us during budget season where we as MCPS and educators, we have to explain our value to our funding partners. It is really just exhausting.

It's not his call to fire individual teachers. The Board of Education hasn't even decided how to handle the budget they are being given by the Council. The Board could decide to fire administrators.
