I have only ever been surprised by one result. Three years ago a friend of my daughter’s was accepted to UVA but rejected by JMU.
By contrast you could draw a line across the Liberal arts U.S. news results and my daughter was rejected above that line, accepted below that line, and waitlisted at three schools that were tied in the rankings. |

It’s called Udub. No one says UW. |
I’d be mortified if I had a parent who used the word “mortified.” |
Yeah, but people in the Pacific Northwest tend to be insufferable. |
Maybe more appropriate to say that it’s sad that there are parents who are pathetic enough to be so invested in the college results of their kid’s classmates. |
We are also OOS and yesterday a school counselor told a kid that U Dub is a safety for her. I was surprised. |
Nah! If you think that, you should stay away from the Northeast! |

No shit. It's been pronounced "u-dub" forever. But it's written UW. |

Small point. But after getting ED Michigan, why didn't this kid pull all other apps as required?

At Georgia Tech last weekend, everyone pronounced GaTech as gah-tech. Had no idea. |
This is, by far, the funniest post I have read on DCUM. |
