Just say UW.

Wisconsin is UW-Madison.

UW Seattle (affectionately called UDub!) is a phenomenal school, depending on the major. It's extremely strong for CS, Engineering, Econ, Business, etc. and recruitment to local companies headquartered there: Microsoft, Amazon, Boeing, Starbucks, etc.

Lots of people get jobs in SF Bay area after graduating.

It's a bit easier to get in-state or to an easier major like English. But if going into STEM or social sciences, it's pretty top tier.

I know several kids rejected from U-W for CS but admitted to Northwestern and Vanderbilt and Michigan.....just for reference for this board that has a non-west coast bias.

My cousin got into Stanford but was WLed by Michigan (in state too). He had really wanted to go to Michigan for financial reasons too.

That’s how you pronounce it, not how you write it.

Northeastern NUIn and London accepts that have pretty mid stats, surprising.

Not surprising. Northeastern, and particularly their NUIn school that starts off campus or abroad, is not really a prestigious school. They just found a way to play the gamified rankings system and travel up USNWR but it's not really as high quality a school at many others that haven't focused obsessively on gaming the rankings.

Welcome to this area, it's all they talk about for four years then they spend the next one stalking kids then when the kids start to find themselves and transfer, drop out, or stay away form the area they wonder what happened. This area is toxic.

Welcome to this area. You will move in middle school and be told to take the SAT before you have had algebra as part of a CTY program. You, a white girl, will be punched in the mouth in gym class for sassing a white girl you don't know who started picking on you for no reason. You will be pushed back a grade in math because you aren't ready for the MCPS curriculum. As a result, you won't reach calculus in high school. You will have to acquire an all new designer wardrobe to fit in with kids from new built-houses in Potomac. You will be happy when you move away again after one year. It will leave you with a strange sense of "WTF Happened?!?" that will lead you to read DCUM years later even though you don't live there anymore.

NP but part of Northeastern’s game is that they have to count the stats of those who start away from Boston in their CDS data. So no one knows what the stats are because they have found away to generate the income without having to report the stats. Between that and their effusive response to ED commitments versus their RD rate, they are pre-meditated USNWR rank chasers. I give them credit for being genius manipulators of the system.

*don’t have to count the stats

A student who was rejected ED Vanderbilt, but was accepted RD UChicago.

A student who was accepted ED UMich (after a 2 week deferral that released them from the ED) was waitlisted at Univ. of Washington.

Not surprising, Vandy no longer admits based primarily on stats, that’s why they take a huge percentage of class test without test scores.

Curious. What does Vanderbilt look for?

What’s surprising is most people don’t realize this and actually consider shelling out 100k a year just because they have a low acceptance rate

Yes, we all know this.

I presume the PP was talking about specific kids they know who were accepted this cycle.

What does the PP consider “mid” stats that “surprised” them?
