Your experience handling teen medication refusal for ADHD

Hi OP, I really hope you find something that works for your kid. I read all of your updates and it brought me back a few years. I posted here a lot and we tried a lot of different meds when my son was 14 and 15 and refusing. We went to psychiatrists and therapists too. You really can’t force them to take anything they don’t want to and shouldn’t at that age. It’s actually illegal in VA.

The advice we were given was to stop all power struggles and for me to back way off on hw and school. That was a lot of our battles. My kid ultimately did stop all meds after trying a lot. He is a senior and will say he’s not taking anything. But things did calm down and get better as he got older.

I will tell you he self medicates with A LOT of caffeine.
