What gets submitted to college is final grade for each year. Semester grades are not reported except for Senior Mid year GPA and Grades after Q2

Wow, so confident yet uninformed. You must go to a grade inflated public school. FCPS? This is 100% not the normal way of reporting grades. Transcripts at most schools show Semester 1, Semester 2, Final grade.

Not sure what grade inflation has to do with anything. But agree that many schools, public and private, show semester and final grades. It varies.

Is it that easy to get As? Our FCPS high school is required to count assessments for a very high part of the grade. My kid has a couple B+s or even Bs. The assessments don’t seem that easy and he says he’s probably in the top half of these classes (AP/honors), not the rare person in the class with a B.

That might not be why. Purdue accepts 3.0 GPA although the tough majors are higher I’m sure.

It is going to depend on the high school and the level of grade inflation. In many public high schools today’s A- is yesterday’s C. Check Naviance or whatever tool your school uses to look at what has happened over the past 5 years. That will be the best indicator.
