Not everything has to be political

Dude (or dudette), when one (namely the Trump Administration) is using their platform to denigrate half the population in service of actively trying to restrict my civil rights, IT'S POLITICAL.

Trump is not required to be a jackass and make everything political, but he has chosen to do so, so here we are.

YOU are the one making it political. He invited the team to come and they accepted. Good grief. There are lots of presidents you can disagree with, but it is not hypocritical to accept an invitation and be recognized by the people in your country.

Do you not have access to the internet? Are you unable to watch the actual video? He denigrated the women’s team. He did this. we don’t take the blame for his behavior.

Lmao, don’t you love it when they try to gaslight you into thinking their cult leader’s behavior is anything approaching normal or decent?

He was clearly making a joke. If you think that is denigrating women--it is not. Good grief.

The “joke” rests on the premise that the women are an inferior afterthought (notice how he didn’t reach out to them as soon as they won gold, a few days before the men) and he’s being forced by social convention to invite them to the SOTU. He could have said they did a great job representing the USA and he genuinely wants them there, but that wouldn’t get the locker room laffs and sexist bro validation he craves.

I too would love to hear you explain why this is funny.

It was disgusting that the US men’s team invited Kash Patel to party with them. The team is nothing but a bunch of traitors.

Kash Patel has destroyed evidence to protect the masked men who killed two US citizens in the street. He is also stonewalling any and all attempts to punish the pedophiles who cover this government.

The hockey team showed their true colors. They love pedophiles and masked men who kill people on the street of the US.

The "it's just a joke posters" seem.to have vanished when asked to explain the joke.

I mean, when you bring half a knife to a fight you can't really expect to be taken seriously.

So now address the rest of the story, as they say.

Republicans hate Americans.

I don't think I've ever seen Olympic athletes go from hero to villain as quickly as the US mens hockey team. What were they thinking? Inviting Kash Patel out of all people into the locker room to celebrate with them was obviously intensely political and divisive in 2026. Chuckling along with Trump as he diminishes and mocks the US women's team is intensely political and divisive. Going to the State of the Union to support Trump is intensely political and divisive.

If the US Men's hockey team wants to embrace MAGA that is their right. But in a single 24 hour period they ruined what should have been a great national moment. I'm sure they are feeling like idiots today. But US Hockey should have known better than to make everything about MAGA politics. They lost an enormous amount of fans - and respect - with their politics

Relax. It’s just literally locker room talk. You’ve never made an off color joke?

Fine. It's the maga USA men's hockey team with their locker room talk. If they think that's the best way to celebrate their gold medal, then that's what they will do. They won't be the first athletes invited to the State of the Union to support the politics of their host and they probably won't be the last.

An off color joke while representing my country? Nope can’t say I have. I also haven’t made a huge public deal of supporting someone to then laugh at their achievements behind their back.

Oh, I bet that you make a lot of “jokes” about POC, too.

I do feel bad for the decent players on the team. Their victory will always be tainted because of their awful teammates.

Jack Hughes is eager to a political pawn and keep digging that grave:

Asked whether they are excited for their trip to meet Trump, Hughes added: 'Yeah, we're excited. Everything is so political. We're athletes. We're so proud to represent the US and when you get the chance to go to White House and meet the president, we're proud to be Americans and that's so patriotic.

Sure, Jan. Tell us about the time you eagerly went to the bosses house to be celebrated for being top female salespersons after he ridiculed you with your entire staff and said he was forced to invite you or he’d be fired because it was an honor for your corporation.

Men's Hockey team can F all the way off. I hope they remember this moment when their daughters, wives, sisters and mothers are treated like $&@t for their accomplishments.

Shame on them! Why did they work so hard to win, only to act like losers?
Three cheers for the women’s team, who truly won the day!
