For my kid, the Accepted Students day visit really helped him in his decision. |
Did he make it to both/all of them? |

Admitted days to get vibe

| Are absences excused from high school to go visit colleges after being admitted? So from end of March to May 1? |
| Almost certainly not. But how many days are you thinking your DC will miss? If your kid can’t handle missing a day and making arrangements to turn in work and/or catch up on material, why are they even going to college? |
| Kid decided mostly based on finances. We can afford full pay for the Top 20 schools that she was accepted to, but one also offered a full tuition scholarship and that was the tie breaker. Also this school seemed to fit her introverted personality better. |
MCPS allows 5 excused absences for college visits for juniors and seniors |
My 15 year old is already saying that this is one of her number one priorities for school. She's horrified at the idea of sharing a room because she has always had bad insomnia and gets really stressed out with lack of sleep. She's the kid leaving the sleepover at midnight. |
| My current senior was a breeze -- athletic commit and ED acceptance. My older one, on the other hand, was a slog. Eventually narrowed down to two, revisited and ultimately chose based on quality of the chosen academic program and vibe. |
Who said anything about handling?? Geez. Question is: are absences excused? |

DC’s private school is the same. |

Scholarship, honors program + admitted students day sealed the deal.
