I want liberal policies but want the politicians in charge to be responsible money managers. And they aren't. Leggett was not perfect but he was so much better than this clown car.

You must be an independent

Anyone who registers as something other than Democrat has no political capital at all.

and there's your answer, she's not a liberal.

also, if people want good long term leadership, they'll need to remove the term limits.

I am a liberal. Not a progressive. But I agree with you - the term limits must go. They have created activist career politicians who do what's best for their next step in their political career ladder rather than what's best for the community members.

It's 12 years, isn't that long enough?

Term limits are a good guardrail. Look at it on the national level. I'm thankful we have it for president, and I wish we had it for Congress.

+1 for term limits and the council should become a nonpartisan office like school board.

Hmm…I wonder if I know you IRL because I’ve heard a number of people make this comment recently. FTR, some of these people work for the county or have worked for the county in the last decade.

The most fascinating conversation transitioned to this suggestion: now that we’ve achieved a sufficiently diverse demographic (racially and socioeconomically), the best next step is to transition to a “gated community” approach and focus on ramping up our “amenities” for the benefit of our children, elderly, etc. Only when we restore mcps and quality of life to a highly desirable level will we be able to retain sufficient tax revenue to sustain our “gated community.”

Anyway, it sounds interesting…but I’m not sure how you do it—or how long it takes. I mean, crime has gotten bad and the schools have devolved quickly.
