It all depends how you define god. You are only using your sophomoric understanding of "a god".

Ok. How do you define “god”?

A being that created humans and the world and has control over human behavior and life.

My definition is "A power that created the universe including but not limited to Earth or humans."

You are in the minority.

The most common way Americans define God is as the deity described in the Bible. This view is held by 56% of U.S. adults (https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2018/04/25/key-findings-about-americans-belief-in-god/) Roughly half of this group (48%) believes God directly determines what happens in their lives all or most of the time.

PP's assertion of ""gods" have woo woo supernatural powers" is how the majority of people view god.

I'm an atheist and I think it's wildly self centered and egotistical to NOT believe there is other life in the universe. The universe is so much more vast than just earth, or just our solar system or just our galaxy.

Magic sky santa is just an olden day legend to get people to behave.

There are many more but I won't grey wall here. Check out videos by Forrest Valkai if you want things like this explained.

Given the difficult-to-grasp size of our universe, plus the variable of time, I can understand how some educated people feel that there is a good chance that it could exist elsewhere.

But I don't know of educated scientist who says it absolutely does.

And certainly none that run their lives around what those other life forms think, legislate based on those ideas, or go to worship those extraterrestrials on Sundays.

It's a stupid, apples to oranges comparison, clearly.

Please stop.

Not sure whether you are saying you don't know of "educated scientists" that run their lives around...on Sundays OR that no life elsewhere does that.

I am not clear how you or even educated scientists know what extraterrestrial life forms might think or legislate or worship.

Well minorities get to have beliefs too, lol.
But remember it's only how MOST or THE MAJORITY not ALL believers think.

Not me. Aliens and God have little or nothing in common. God is omnipotent and if you believe in him, you get to live forever. It's a false promise, but one I've never heard from any supposed alien.

Yep! There's only one guy that uses that phrase and you've identified him! Thanks for your massive contribution to the discourse in this thread, we'd all be lost without your fantastic insights. And I know I speak for everyone when I say we certainly appreciate you didn't waste your post on actual content and discussion but instead chose to use it to benefit EVERYONE, by announcing that "Dude man is here". We're all better for it and you've saved us lots of agonizing effort.

This day will live on in all our memories, and you will be remembered as one of the all-time greats of the internet. I praise you and pray to the god that is theoretically the topic of this forum that you remain able to continue to bring your unbelievable insights to this group for the rest of us to feast on.

Thank you and god bless you and all you stand for.
