There is no propensity for meaning. There IS a natural human desire for order.

From famines, floods, storms, fires, etc. That's precisely why humans developed forms of worship to try and understand - and more importantly, to try and control chaotic and unpredictable situations.

As an atheist, I'm sure there is intelligent life elsewhere in the university. Not because I care about "meaning" but because I think it's highly arrogant to think that we're special, in the vastness of the universes.

I simply do not believe in a creator or creators who have orchestrated all of this. We know why floods, famines, fires, death, disease, etc happen. There are still mysteries out there, but the necessity to try and control the chaos is less.

It's not about "meaning" for me . . . just logic. The universe is huge and its details are mostly unknown to us. It seems likely that there are other forms of life out there.

Atheist have a biological evolution that makes them good just because being good is good. They have more intrinsic value. They are too evolved to need parables and myths to encourage them to act morally, it's part of evolution.

I was once religious and became atheist because, when I thought about it, it made sense. Atheism is logical and so am I. I have always been interested in extraterrestrial intelligence and UFOs.

Atheists are capable of all kinds of ideas, including believing in some stupid sh*t. Like the Raelians, for example.

Atheism is simply the position of not believing in a god or gods. Everything else is unrelated.

The premise being that all atheists believe in ETs or that there is a relation of any kind between not believing in god to other beliefs.

Do I believe aliens are visiting Earth? No.

Do I believe it is probable that there is other life in the universe? Yes. I would love to get into the likely salty oceans on Europa, Enceladus, or Ganymede. It would be awesome to discover and learn about similarities and differences if there is any other life there.

I wonder how the religious crazies will react if we do find life outside of Earth?

Not to nitpick but some atheists believe there is no god which is different than not believing in god. While they are both atheist the 2 different beliefs are very different.

Atheists are multifaceted just like Christians are.
