What can take the place of weights? As noted, I can't do weights because of shoulder and wrist issues.

Have you considered trying aqua weight classes? At least in DC, there are a number of gyms and public recreation pools that offer classes with aqua weights.

Thank you for this thread. I am very hesitant to take GLP-1 s because I have to take other medications related to a TBI. I have gained over 30 lbs due to that injury and perimenopause. I have started tracking and weighing my portions, Grow with Jo walking videos, mat pilates, yoga and light weight training. Before the injury I was very active (ran road races regularly and did Tough mudders) but due to the TBI, running, swimming and gym workouts were not possible for 4 years due to the headaches, dizziness and nausea it caused from the motion and bright lights. I am grateful for the level of activity I am able to do now, but it is frustrating to not feel as healthy as I want to be.

Good luck and take care all!

I am now at a good weight for my height and frame, but I want to lose 10 more pounds. I’ve allowed myself more treats/dining out over the past few months so haven’t lost but also haven’t gained. I aim try to get back to more strictly following my WW plan over the next few of months to hopefully lose that last 10 pounds.

What I’m saying happiest about is that I eat a healthier diet these days (excepting the past few weeks around the holidays 😊), with lots more fruits and vegetables and less processed foods. And I’m sticking to regular exercise- I love the peleton app for lots more than biking - I do yoga, mat pilates, stretching.

Different poster but similar story! I lost 16 pounds and a pant size over the course of 6 months last year through regular strength training (love Peloton classes) and tracking my food aiming for protien goals and a 200-300 calorie deficit. It was very very doable. I have been maintaining my new weight for the past three months without tracking because I make healthier food choices now.

This attitude explains why the United States relies on prescriptions to solve problems. It is a life-long medication, with unknown long-term side effects, so the decision to "just take them" is a bit flippant.

+1
I’m glad they exist as a last resort for people tha really need them but using them as a “just do it” is not a good idea.

Thanks for the suggestion. I actually just completed a series of "aqua fitness" through the county. It didn't use weights per se but foam barbells and noodles. I just did what my shoulder would tolerate, eventually ditching the "barbells" because I found them more distracting than helpful. After several weeks, it seems my other shoulder is beginning to show the same symptoms. grrrrg! Guess I need to return to the ortho.

No, that's not "what they're for."
