What can take the place of weights? As noted, I can't do weights because of shoulder and wrist issues.
Have you considered trying aqua weight classes? At least in DC, there are a number of gyms and public recreation pools that offer classes with aqua weights. Thank you for this thread. I am very hesitant to take GLP-1 s because I have to take other medications related to a TBI. I have gained over 30 lbs due to that injury and perimenopause. I have started tracking and weighing my portions, Grow with Jo walking videos, mat pilates, yoga and light weight training. Before the injury I was very active (ran road races regularly and did Tough mudders) but due to the TBI, running, swimming and gym workouts were not possible for 4 years due to the headaches, dizziness and nausea it caused from the motion and bright lights. I am grateful for the level of activity I am able to do now, but it is frustrating to not feel as healthy as I want to be. Good luck and take care all!
Thanks for the suggestion. I actually just completed a series of "aqua fitness" through the county. It didn't use weights per se but foam barbells and noodles. I just did what my shoulder would tolerate, eventually ditching the "barbells" because I found them more distracting than helpful. After several weeks, it seems my other shoulder is beginning to show the same symptoms. grrrrg! Guess I need to return to the ortho.
