Immigration is a mess at IAD

I’m a citizen. It usually takes me about 20 minutes or less to get through border checks in Europe and 90 minutes when I come back. Very embarrassing.

I’ve waited for a long long time in Heathrow. It’s dependent on a lot of factors.

Now you must apply in advance for an ETA (no idea what that stands for). On arrival you just scan your own passport and get your photo taken at one of many available stations and you're done.

is Dulles Access rd traffic always bad on Sunday evenings? mile+ of backup before the loop couple of hours ago. just curious if it's holiday travel only or maybe not unusual on Sunday late afternoon/evening?

This is probably one of the busiest travel days of the year.

Yup just holiday travel.

Kiss and fly is secretly awesome at times like this.

I have noticed that Dulles is terrible over the last 1.5 years, and we are US citizens. Another A total embarrassment. Twice returning from London we stood in a line that inched along for hours due to there only being two agents. Another time it was a tad better but still 1.5 hours and understaffed. Inexcusable really.

Canada's is worse.

On holidays yes it’s normal. Use the kiss and fly or deal with it.

IAD has always been awful, even for US citizens. I don't know how people can stand going to that airport. BWI is so much better, probably because they have way fewer international flights. I don't know why they can't get it together.

Same. I don’t think I’ve ever spent more than a minute going through.

This has nothing to do with MAGA. This has been an ongoing problem for years. Admittedly, I have not signed up for either Global Entry or the Mobile thing because I don't like giving my biometrics or other information out voluntarily. Last time I came through Dulles, it took 2 hours and the MPC line took more than an hour. I asked to speak to a manager and they said to call our Congressman.

And busiest time of the day. I was meeting a few times family arriving between 4-5 and it was always this bad at this time irrespective of day.

In Rome it looked great and automated it you were traveling with teens and adults. But I had a tween with me and so we had to go through the long and non automated process instead.
