You are completely lost if this is your thinking. Btw, Channukah is a Zionist holiday so you shouldn’t celebrate it. |
It's the most celebrated Jewish holiday in America. |
because it's near Xmas. That's the only reason. |
and CHRISTmas isn't really even a big deal compared to Easter for Christians |
That doesn’t make it important. |
My Jewish friend told me this also. It’s really for Jewish kids so they don’t feel left out during Christmas. It is not their most important Jewish holiday. My kid loves cats. When my kid was 5 or 6, she gave my kid a cat menorah. She came over and we lit candles during Chanukah. We played dreidel with chocolate coins and had latkes. My kid still remembers. |
| don't see how this is offensive- if they were pretending to do it for their own religious purpose, weird, but if they wanted to doit in solidarity to make it safer for us Jews to feel comfortable- great-- my spouse refuses to allow any inflatable chanukah decorations as he thinks it's dangerous (and he was proved right this week in CA)- would be happy if houses that had over the top decor added an inflatable menorah as it'd make me feel more comfortable to do the same |

I have a friend who’s doing this in solidarity and I think it’s lovely.
Whereas in my interfaith household, my spouse vetoed us putting a menorah in the window. They don’t want our house to be a target. I get it, but it also makes me sad. I’d like other Jews walking down the street to feel less alone. |

Putting a menorah in your window is not dangerous in NW D.C. (Proof: We have been putting menorahs in windows in neighborhoods east and west of Rock Creek Park for more than 15 years.)
Too late for this Chanukah, but no one should have any anxiety about doing it next year. |
"Interfaith household" is terminology that I hope doesn't exist for too much longer. |
| As a jew I don't find this offensive and see it as a sign of solidarity in this time of normalized Jewish hate aka antisemitism which is real and very scary. |
Xmas is only a big deal because it's near Yule. |
In this story, is your spouse the Jew, or are you? |
Care to explain yourself? Because that comment looks awful m |
