No, it’s still not an important Jewish holiday, even here. It gets more attention here from a lot of Jews than it does elsewhere, because there’s another big holiday around the same time of year that a lot of us don’t celebrate but the wider culture does, but that doesn’t make it important. My Jewish friend told me this also. It’s really for Jewish kids so they don’t feel left out during Christmas. It is not their most important Jewish holiday. My kid loves cats. When my kid was 5 or 6, she gave my kid a cat menorah. She came over and we lit candles during Chanukah. We played dreidel with chocolate coins and had latkes.  My kid still remembers. [/quote]
