| I was quoted $500/window for custom bamboo roman shades from my local (flyover state, not DC) Budget Blinds this week. I'm going to wait. |
Amazon sells them for less and they’re fine. |
That is great to know! I need custom shades and would have never thought of Costco. Do they send someone to your house to take measurements? I have big windows and worry I may mess something up with measuring and end up paying for a shade that does not fit. |
Costco used Hunter Douglas and Graber way back and they were expensive, even with their discounts. Budget Blinds was more reasonable and they used to installed for free. I miss bed bath and beyond and linens N things. I’ve had luck at Home Goods |
Just be aware that sales, measuring and install are the way to save money on shades. If you want someone to come to your house twice, you should expect that to add $900 to the cost. They might put part of that in the shade price and part in the install or whatever. But in 2025, having someone come to your house is very expensive and you should assume they can hit two, maybe three a day. |
| What’s making me insane right now is having to make appts for someone to come to my house to spend an hour until I get to the cost and detail… it’s frustrating and antiquated when I just need to see the fabrics and price my options |
| Window treatments have always been expensive unless you get cheap blinds. |
These are so easy to install. I have zero skills and did it. I don't know if they still have it, but back when I wanted them, Lowes had these machines in the shades aisle and they'd cut your shades on the spot.
