And one is moving up fast, and one is moving down fast; therein lies a big difference. |
If you're talking about USNews, didn't Middlebury go from 19 to 13 this year? |
| Look at distributional requirements, major requirements and any course syllabi you can find. |
Ugh. What does this statement even mean? It’s not Swat, CMU, MIT, etc? The generally strong students who go there don’t have to work hard? How about when compared to the 2500+ other colleges and universities in the country? You people need a serious reality check. |
Yes but everything is relative, so it’s a waste to compare every top college to the other 2500- they have peers that we can base our ideas off of. |
ok which one is up and which one down? |
I take it as an opinion about the culture. Obviously these are all top schools with serious academics, but it is also true that some are more "intense" than others. |
Sounds like you need to avail yourself of actual news about Midd, not which 8 schools are tied for the #13-20 ranking this year by a now-defunct print magazine. |
If you have to ask… |
I know a lot more about Middlebury than you do. I actually went there and was just on campus. |
I am sure they can appreciate your help! And I only hope your help does not hurt them, as it is doing on this thread. |
| The only one hurting on this thread is you. |
Someone is asking for real-world information about Middlebury College. Who better to provide that than someone who actually went there? And for the record, I've posted three times on this thread. Once yesterday at 17:39, and today at 14:08 and this post. |
OP here, thank you to the Middlebury grad for weighing in, I do appreciate it! And thank you for identifying your posts so I can weigh actual knowledge more heavily. I don't see a 17:39 yesterday though, was that you at 17:36: "Midd does not have a reputation for rigor. Don’t worry about it! But apply ED; that’s a must." Thanks again! |
I am pleasantly surprised Chicago isn't on this list. DC is applying ED and the intensity concerns me. |
