Wrong. All the private school kids in CA take it and many of the public school kids do too, in order to be competitive when applying to non- UC colleges. My kids literally just graduated from a CA publicy HS and took it. On the ground you become aware, you're just making sh*t up from your armchair in the DMV

USC does not look at TO students from Cali and TO students from elsewhere the same. That’s it. Full stop. Especially if kids are applying EA, they recognize it for what it is: a sign that the Cali kid is more likely to yield. I am sorry your public has bad college counseling, and am especially sorry that you do not seem to be able to learn beyond your lived experience.

IF you use the stupid phrase “full stop”, you are supposed to stop, not keep rambling on. And Californians don’t say “Cali”.

Why does this person keep bringing up UVA’s cost for engineering compared to the regular tuition figure for College of Arts & Sciences which the bulk of students pay? Mental illness, some weird grudge going back ten years. It makes no sense.

I’m a NP. Also in California. I do think CA kids can get away with TO more than kids from other states. Check your school’s SAT/ACT participation. In many states it’s 100% - in California it’s still quite low due to the UCs/CSU.

Yes, and USC located in a high crime area. While USC has invested a lot into security there has been a recent rise in thefts and crimes of opportunity. Google Is USC safe? And you will see.

Remember the freeway exit for Watts/Compton is only two exits away. I spent a term teaching there and would never send my own kids there.

I am from west coast. 30 years ago, the common idea was:

Smart + Rich = Stanford
Smart + non-rich = Berkely
non-smart + Rich = USC
non-smart + non-rich = I forgot, maybe SJSU

Times have changed for a lot of schools and us Gen X and Millennial parents need to open our minds a bit about colleges and reputations.

There are smart kids at what we considered to be high acceptance rate schools. More now than ever. And those high acceptances have dropped lower and lower each year.

Dying. Another CA parent checking in. I'd say 80% of my kid's school in the SF is submitting the SAT or ACT. Few are TO but there are a few.

Sure, if they apply to only schools in state. Otherwise unless hooked or an athlete, they will still need a strong test score if applying to competitive schools OOS, just like applicants from any other state.
