Wake Forest - Rankings Drop? Why?

Agree that schools attract very similar students.

- Class size
- Professors with terminal degrees (the highest degree achievable in their respective fields)
- Alumni giving average
- Graduate debt proportion borrowing
- High school class standing

None of that matters if they aren’t helping the less fortunate.

Your privilege is showing. Some people care about social mobility.

Wake just announced free tuition for NC families making under $200,000. But sure, if one’s primary concern is going to a school that has a long track history of success with Pell grant eligible students, one should seek out a state flagship.

Wake and BC havens for full pay families that can’t get into good schools. Outcomes work in wealth management firms in suburbs. Neither is special.

That’s nice if they actually admit kids that qualify. I wonder if they recruit in rural areas and admit kids with less than ideal applications because they didn’t have the money for help.

Um, no. BC student body is 70% Catholic. Catholic affiliation of BC is very significant--and limiting in terms of draw among non-Catholics.

College of William and Mary
Dartmouth College
Davidson College
Duke University
Emory University
George Washington University
Tufts University
UNC Chapel Hill
University of Notre Dame
University of Richmond
University of Virginia
Vanderbilt University
Washington and Lee University

Dartmouth, Davidson, Duke, Emory, UNC, UND, UVa, Vandy, W&L are not peers with Wake they're 1-3 tiers above. Wake is grandstanding with this peer list.

I beg to differ on this one.
100x agree. The naviance for our school has almost the exact same numbers and overlap of green checks with W&L and Wake. Emory and UVA (in state) also quite similar. Nephew is in NC and Wake is harder admit than UNCCH in state, but almost exactly the same as Emory, top private school in Charlotte. Yes we share naviance data its great to compare.

Wake wants to be Emory badly. Former boss at an internship heyears ago gated that I went to Emory. Gave me such a hard time about it.

UVA is much harder to get into than Wake. For good reason. Much better school, higher ranked overall, and higher ranked programs.

NO ONE wants to be like Emory, trust me. Why you think people even give a thought to Emory is so strange. You jump on all these boards; you are making it up in your head. Kids who go to Wake want a great education on a beautiful campus with ACC Sports.
