Constant food poisoning - downtown DC

A”stomach bug” and “food poisoning” are two laymen terms describing the same thing: a pathogen that has entered your GI system.

Coming From dirty hands, dirty lettuce, dirty undercooked chicken, dirty hands that TOUCHED food that then went into your mouth ….

Untrue. When people say stomach bug, they mean a virus. When people say food poisoning, they mean they ate food contaminated with a bacteria. Two different things.

Food delivery people usually have a bunch of stops or slow or sit in DC traffic a lot (or all of the above) so by the time they deliver perishables items to your door and you bring them inside it could be a good 2 hrs without refrigerated.

Do your items still feel cold when you unpack them?

You are funny, trying to use the vernacular to describe specifics. It's not just a regional thing, but a cultural and ethnic thing as well. You are simply spitting into the wind.

I've had food poisoning maybe once in my life. This seems like something else is going on.

Your food is not going bad in the 20 minute walk home. Something is going on. It’s also way more likely to be your produce than your meat.

Instacart drivers absolutely allow food to defrost. They just use their cars.

Like many other respondents, I've lived in Logan Circle for 20+ years, do 95% of my grocery shopping on foot in the neighborhood (ie walking home in the heat) and eat out regularly. I've only had food poisoning once-- in Laos 30 years ago. Most likely answer here is your own practices- not those of the restaurant or the grocery.

Could be your water filter.

You are not nearly as well spoken as you think you are.

This. OP is being targeted by workers at a place she frequents.

Anonymous wrote:Our family has had more food poisoning the last two years than our whole lives combined, especially in the warmer months since we moved downtown. I also feel like we end up with more spoiled food from the grocery stores than we ever did living in the suburbs. Is this because we’re getting our groceries delivered or because we’re walking 20min home from Trader Joe’s with groceries? Or employees being careless with food safety? Also feel like restaurant food quality has gone so far downhill…

Anyone else in the same boat? We live in the DuPont / Logan area

I get a daily list of recalled items from a US government source. Surprising how often product's sold at Trader Joe's appears as being recalled for some form of contamination.

What I meant was it’s not food poisoning at all. Clearly the workers aren’t targeting her but her food isn’t going bad this often on a short walk home.
