So in the past few days Wake, Tufts, and Emory have all announced similar programs (I'm sure I'm missing others). There is probably a decent amount of overlap in applicants.

Meanwhile the donut holers get more and more depressed as they continue to get squeezed. No one is taking up a collection for them but they have historically been the backbone of so many of these schools. Now no one cares.

No you can not.
That is absurd.

North Carolina is not cheap.

I just looked up homes on Zillow for Charlotte NC. There are a plethora of homes in the $300-500k range!!

There are homes in that range in the DC area, as well. You just don’t want to live there.

Fair enough. But you can live very nicely in Charlotte in an area with good schools for well under $1 million. Just looked up the home of a very wealthy friend in Charlotte (south side of town) whose kids went to public school (they could easily afford private but chose public because it was good) and then onto TT colleges - house is under $1 million and beautiful.

Sure, but you need more than $190k a year for that. This offshoot is from a poster claiming you can live like a king in NC on that salary.

I think the OP's point was that you can afford to make at least some contribution to college if you are making $190k a year in NC. And I think that is 100% true. No one said you have a God-given right to live in the best neighborhood and go to the best schools. You can live in a nice, safe neighborhood with good schools anywhere in NC and still save something for college if you have the slightest bit of financial discipline (and don't have odd extenuating circumstances).

There seems to be one trying theor best to push this narrative. Emory is a tier above both, instate students at both uga and GT cannot get into Emory. Emorynis competing with Rice and Vandy schools that routinely have better financial aid.

Wrong.

DP

Wrong about what? UGA honors students get rejected from Emory routinely. I see it every year.
