I went out to dinner to a steak restaurant once on a Friday during Lent with a Catholic, Kosher guy and a Jain Indian.
Most unpleasant expereince of life. I actually ate a big steak with a few beers as did the big boss. The three of them staring at me felt like three dogs at a dinner table watching you eat and begging for food. I also used to work with a Kosher Vegitarian once. OMG the women unless it said K on the Can or box would not touch it. Once for lunch she had three diet cokes in the Can so she could check for the K on side of can to ensure Kosher. Imagine being with her at a business lunch. She used to ask to smell our food then ask us to descibe it. Was bizzare |
Yes, it's weird to ask to heat something up. You're going to need to eat it cold, even if that's not your preference. It's not weird to eat your own food if you have to for medical reasons. |

Tell the partner or your company liaison that you have specific medical needs, and ask for someone in Facilities or HR to work out what you need. Be specific with what you need, be it a microwave or whatever.
Excuse yourself from the meeting for food/meds when you need them |
Just bring your lunch and pull it out when everyone else eats. Celiac here. I do it all the time even with sr mgmt. people understand. I don’t make a big deal. Just eat what I brought |
