True that no one cares. Not true that it's meaningless bc I got a bunch of scholarship offers as a result.


Third vote for no one cares. Also the bar in DC is crazy high. Any kid hitting that mark is also getting scholarships for a high SAT/ACT score. Where NMSF matters by itself is for states ike WV and OK where the bar is low, and kids can be NMSFs even though they can’t score high on the SAT/ACT.

The only scholarship I got was a National Merit Scholarship. It was for about 2.5% of my total tuition & room and board. Not a ton but something.

Also, I got lots of recognition because it had been published in the local paper. At a time in my life when a lot was going wrong, it was nice to have some positive feedback. I'd like to give similar feedback to kids in our area who deserve it.
