Why do so many young males see themselves as alphas, gladiators, lions etc.?

People who are actually tough don't go around talking about how tough they are.

I’ve heard about it from the TV show Survivor. Maybe it means a person who dominates and back stabs to dominate j til the end?

The television series you (and everyone) really needs to watch to learn about boys in 2025 is “Adolescence” on netflix.

It shows how boys are being turned into incels; violent incels.

You are nuts. That show doesn't show anything. This is such a one off. Kids from good homes with parents who give them attention are not being turned in
to incels. You need therapy.

It’s not their fault. They’ve lost the ability to discern a fictional tv show with some really good actors from every day life. There are posters who love to point to Netflix shows as proof of….something. Not sure what. That Netflix can make a good show maybe?

Because it's a fad.

And men follow the group.

What's behind this?

Being raised by mommies who told them growing up that they were special, a big boy, so great at everything they did, participation trophies, etc.

ThunderDome type situation could replace the judicial system.

Have a beef with someone who did you dirty? "Two people enter, one person leaves." Combat dueling.

Society would be much more polite like that.

I’ve actually met far more young women who have princess/diva delusions than wannabe alpha young males. But maybe that’s a class thing. I’m not sure any gender (or culture) has any more particular sense of entitlement, especially among the upper class which seems to have it in spades.

I can’t wait until your daughters bring an alpha home. Let us know how your beta husbands try to cope.

Andrew Tate is one influencer who promotes the "be a tough guy gladiator" nonsense:

LOL no. Participation trophies have been around for a century. And already quite prevalent even when Gen Xers like me were growing up.
