weird abdominal symptom - feels like a baby kicking

Anonymous
This happens to me all the time. I realized that (for me at least) pregnancy weakened my core so drastically that I could feel my intestines moving around sometimes.

Sweetie, I am having the same exact problem! My youngest is 6, and when she was 5 mo old my husband got a vasectomy. His count came back as "non-existent." But for the last week I have been feeling what seem to be kicks, and they are happening throughout the day. I took a test which also came back negative, but am really starting to have doubts that it is accurate. Last year I had really delayed periods from October to February (I was anywhere from 5-7 weeks late between each one) and then they corrected themselves. I have gotten my period every month since, but they have lasted about half as long as they normally do (3 days). You would think that gas would eventually go through your system and then be done, but that doesn't seem to be the case for us. Have you had any other "signs" of pregnancy like unexplained weight gain, breast tenderness, more frequent urination or increase in appetite? If so, the test could be a false negative, and I would recommend going to your doctor to get a HCG count (blood test for pregnancy) and take things from there. I am getting ready to do that right now!!

OP of this thread here - It stopped happening not long after I posted this and the symptoms didn't come back or turn into anything. So in my case, it was a benign symptom with no real explanation that went away.

I had multiple cysts and fibroids when I went to get checked out for the same reason

I am also having the fluttering just below my ribs. My bowel movements are very regular. So highly doubt it's that. It's not painful like gas. I already have two kids 10 year old and 15 year old. My last period if that's what it was, was shorter and much lighter than my normal. I have a Dr appointment on March 3rd. Here's to hoping!

Having same symptoms. Kids are 12 & 10 and i remember connecting gas bubbles to baby flutter sensation nearer to their births. This is completely different and more closely resembles when baby would flip or make large sweeping turns inside me. I, too, can see the actionright in front of me as my stomach (lower right) moves as if i'm inhabited by something trying to get out!! I do also have a history of cysts and hadnt thought at all about that possibility. I do leg lifts while lying in bed reading, and every time i hold then release those core muscles i predictably have one of these movements. They settle after about 20-30 seconds. Not even close to the gas sensation. Been going on about 2 weeks

So strange to see this thread. This started happening to me! My youngest is 2 and I am sure I'm not pregnant, but it was certainly bizarre to feel that sensation.

So happy to see this is happening to other people. I thought it was just me. I went to the doctor, not pregnant, all test came back negative. I still get a period and I have a paraguard. Im so confused as to what is happening, it's not gas, I've recently started gaining weight out of no where. diet has not changed, i'm extremely tired, which are all signs of pregnancy but all test are negative including the pelvic ultrasound. Im actually going back to my OB today to see if there is something else she could do to help. This has been going on for almost 2 months now and i really need answers.

This is a long shot, but I have an umbilical hernia that took forever to diagnose until it really popped out. Unfortunately, you can see and hear the intestinal action going on. It doesn't really feel like a baby kicking, but it does look and feel really weird.

I am 49, my kids are 18 and 22. My husband had a vasectomy 15 years ago and due to the fear of getting pregnant in my mid 40's I made him get checked to make sure that he was still "all clear." The last 2 weeks I have been experiencing the kicking sensation and am worried that it could be a problem that I need to look into. I had a tummy tuck almost 10 years ago and have wondered through the years if my organs where shifted around after that extensive surgery. I have written it off to recent bad eating habits and gas but I really don't know.

I'm 30, never been pregnant. I've had this off and on for the last few years. I'm almost certain it's not gas. I've had gas pains a couple times over the last few years and it feels nothing like this. I do have a cyst but it's nowhere near where I get this.

Can people start detailing where the feeling is on the abdomen? A couple people mentioned it being low, anyone have it high? Mine's at the top of my abdomen. When it started I would describe it as a flutter. I actually thought I was feeling my heart beat but then I would check my pulse with my finger and they were at different rates. I also thought I might be pregnant (though I wasn't sure that it felt like kicks because I've never been pregnant).

It happens less often now but it's very strange when it does and it frightens me and keeps me up at night.

I am so glad to hear that I am not the only one. I just started feeling the movements a week ago, but it is strange. I feel it all over and have noticed my stomach moving. I would like another baby, but I had a tubal ligation. I would really like to know what causes this.
